Projects|Color Illusion
[EN] Hi everyone! Welcome to this new SPECIAL POST. Today, as I promised you a few days ago, I am going to show you a beautiful charity project I took part during the last few months.
Color Illusion is an artistic project for the Pediatric Hospital of my natal city, Jaén, (Spain), for the childs who have been hospitalised.
This Project has been coordinated by Ales Jaén, the hospital’s Association of the Parents of childs who suffer cancer disease.
They did a shoutout where they involved fifty five volunteers, local artists and assistants, giving us the task of designing mural art for the child’s rooms to bring joy and color to the cold hospital walls.
THE PROJECT
To create my designs I came up with some ideas to mix the concepts of happiness, color, games and then I added a bit of cuteness, so I developed my idea of an interactive mural for childs based in videogames, where they can play with toys and distract themselves of the hospital life in their rooms.
HOW
At first I sketched a concept art for an intern’s room, the doctors loved my idea and asked me for another one, so I developed a second different mural for the doctor’s room, where they give the medication and diagnose the childs.
After the brainstorming, I came up with this:
Then, I went to the hospital to sketch each drawing on the walls. To start, I had to measure the walls and furniture and then I used a charcoal to sketch my designs in large format, saving blank spaces for the new furniture they were going to place there.
THE RESULT
Making the necessary preparation, I started painting the walls with an acrylic non-toxic painting, and finally, (I am very proud to show you this, guys) the final work looks like this:
Room 310
Room 401. The doctor’s room:
We unveiled the project the past 15th October, the press media came to interview the authorities and to show our project to the world.
You can check the news in this link. I collected the news and some important tweets of the moment in that related post.
It has been an amazing experience and a huge pleasure for me to take part in this unforgettable project. I did it totally for free, it is a present for the childs. If they win, we win.
I wish I could invest more time doing projects like this, so, if you want to support my art and help me to create bigger and better projects you can do it through Patreon.
